Pokemon Platinum News: Battle Frontier

I’m so sorry for the previous month. I was so busy (not to mention I’m having my vacation) last month, also, my ISP is still not functioning properly (I was like, trying to upload the same picture several times and still failed, and the connection was worst, repeatedly disconnecting by itself) until now. I apology for the lack of updates on my sanctuary. However, I wanted to say have a very happy New Year 2009! This year, I’ll try to update my sanctuary more regularly than in 2008. Wishing you all the best luck this year too! Now, back to more Pokemon Platinum News (although it’s a bit old, should’ve been called olds, not news).

Much like the previous Pokemon Emerald, Pokemon Platinum also comes with the long anticipated battling facility for those battle freaks, the Sinnoh Battle Frontier. Set in the Fighter Area of Sinnoh, the new Battle Frontier holds five (yes, that’s a five) different battle facilities (as opposed to seven in Emerald), including two original facilities from the Hoenn Battle Frontier. The Battle Frontier mechanics haven’t changed much. You will have to beat the Frontier Brains once to get the first medal (usually a silver one) and the second one to get the colored medal (usually a gold one). Also, many legendary Pokemon are not allowed to enter the tournament in Battle Frontier. They are Mewtwo, Mew, Lugia, Ho-oh, Celebi, Kyogre, Groudon, Rayquaza, Jirachi, Deoxys, Dialga, Palkia, Giratina (both Origin and Altered Forme), Manaphy, Phione, Darkrai, Shaymin (both Land and Sky Forme), and of course, the god of all Pokemon, Arceus.

Battle Tower
Battle Tower is situated in the north of Battle Frontier. It has the same mechanics as the one from Emerald version. Battling trainers in a streak. That’s all. Period. No other special requirements or rules. You will face the Tower Tycoon Palmer at 21 and 49 winning streaks.

Battle Factory
Another comeback from the previous generation, Battle Factory still shares the same mechanics as the previous one. Rent three out of six Pokemon, and face another trainer to battle them. If you win, you can swap the Pokemon and continue battling another trainer. You will face Factory Head Noji (Japanese name) after 21 and 49 winning streaks.

Battle Roulette
A new battle facility called Battle Roulette is situated on the south east from the center of the Battle Frontier. Like the Battle Pike from the Emerald version, this battle facility relies on your luck. Note that your Pokemon will temporarily reduced to level 50 for the battles. Before you battle your opponent, you will be shown his or her Pokemon team first, and then you’ll draw a roulette to pick what will happen in the battle. This goes as far as reducing or leveling up your Pokemon, or even switching teams with your opponent. After winning 21 and 49 streaks, you’ll face Roulette Goddess Daria (Japanese name).

Battle Castle
Another new battle facility on the Sinnoh Battle Frontier is the Battle Castle. Situated on the south west of the Battle Frontier, this battle facility do not heal your Pokemon upon entering or finishing a battle. It makes this quite hard. However, it has a unique point system to comprehend it. Everytime you battle, you earn Castle Points (CP) and it can be traded for items such as healing items, ranks (yes, you’ll have to buy ranks for unlocking several items), or even viewing your opponent’s Pokemon.  However, the points, rank and items remained throughout your streak, so you don’t have to start all over again every 7 matches. You will face the Catle Butler Cochran (Japanese name…probably…) after winning 21 and 49 streaks.

Battle Stage
The last battle facility in the Sinnoh Battle Frontier is the Battle Stage (due to it’s simple name, probably will change in the US version). Here, you can only choose one Pokemon (two if in double battle) and fight through the battles here. Before the battle, you’ll be given chance to select which type you want to fight. However, please note that you might find the type advantage is not so rewarding (consider you choose a Flying type for your Electric type and end up with Gligar instead), and the types that your Pokemon have a type advantage will be decreased according to the rank. The battles are done in streak of 10 battles. After winning 60 streaks, you’ll face Stage Madonna Keito (Japanese name) and you’ll face her again after beating Rank 10 on every type of Pokemon.

Battle Frontier Shops
There are also several shops in the center of the Sinnoh Battle Frontier. You can use the battle points gathered in the Battle Frontier to trade for items there. There is, as usual, a Training Item stall, which sells pretty much of training equipments such as Protein, and also other hold items. There is also a TM stall which sells few TMs. And last, there is a new stall, which is a kind of lottery stall. It sells a scratch-card, you know, that lottery thing in which you scratch out three blocks.

Well, that pretty much wraps around the new Sinnoh Battle Frontier. Be sure to pre-order the Pokemon Platinum for it will be released on 22nd March 2009 in the US. And yeah, if you wonder why I wrote Giratina Altered Forme, it’s the official English name for the Another Forme. Anyway, images are thanks to Serebii.net and see you next post..!
