Summer Breeze
Hi! Lately I’ve been busy moving out to my new place. It’s so tiring. I was going back and forth for many times just for moving those stuffs. I didn’t realise that I’d be having this much stuffs, anyway. Luckily, Melbourne’s weather is quite nice in this summer.
Speaking of weather, it’s now summer in Melbourne but while I’m writing this post, it’s 13 degrees Celsius outside. Yes, it’s a very cool summer in Melbourne. I can say that I’m very fortunate that my new place has a heating and air conditioning unit installed. There’s just one problem.
It seems that everytime we (me and my housemates, of course) tried to order something, we ended up having to either go to the post office (which is just a few metres away) or call the delivery man back because it seems that the deliverer didn’t know about our place.
It first happened few weeks ago when we secured the place. I need to connect to the energy (that is, gas and electricity) as well as water. What pisses me off is that, they all said that someone would came over and do the reading of the meters, but in fact no one came. Not even a knock on the door. What’s worse, I ACTUALLY waited for them. I was like wasting my time in my new place alone for two or three days.
A couple days ago I started to move my gadgets out. I gotta admit though, I have TOO many gadgets. And moving them was a pain in the ass feet. Not mentioning the tram I had to take to go back to my old place was very damn late everytime. Seems that I really need to stop buying gadgets (New Year’s resolution, maybe?).
Still, I like my new place. It’s cool in summer, at least (I dunno about the warm in winter part, though. LOL.), and added by the sudden change in Melbourne’s weather, I’d say it’s actually freezing in summer. The only thing I probably don’t like is the fact that our rooms got halogen bulbs installed. Halogen bulbs emit yellow light, and that makes me feel dizzy when using computers. I’ll probably change those tomorrow.
My cousin from Sydney will be coming to Melbourne this Sunday. She’ll be here to study PHP for about a week or so. Then my family will be coming in the third week of December. And that said, I’ll probably be busy enough to keep them happy, so I beg your pardon if I hadn’t got the chance to post something. Anyway, see you next post, enjoy your holiday!
Moving Out
Hi! Along these past few weeks, I’ve been busy moving out of my old place, to a newer one. Actually my contract with the previous landlord ends in 27 December 2009, but I find that looking for another place to stay for at least another year is quite a pain in the ass. I lodged several applications to those who are so-called tenant agencies, and guess what, all of them were rejected! Probably it has something to do being an Asian…or probably something to do being an international student. But seriously, it doesn’t make any sense at all. I mean when I applied for my student visa for Melbourne, I was asked the full financial report of my parents. Moreover, the fact that when we were rejected an application for renting a house, the same house came up again in the website with lower prices. Does that mean that the actual owner never get the chance to consider whether he wants to lease it to someone they see fit? I’ll never know.
As I said before, moving out can be quite a pain in the ass. Especially when you have no furniture. Me and two of my housemates have to buy our own furniture. That really cost a lot of money. Our choice: IKEA. I bought the Sultan series as well as the Aneboda bed frame. And the Mikael desk…it seems quite sad when you really know the IKEA names for those furniture, doesn’t it? We also have to register our name…correct that, MY name in the electricity and gas, as well as water supplier. Apparently all three of them are already connected, but (narcissism ALERT) being a good international student, I have to register for it.
Past few days in Melbourne didn’t help our moving. It’s been raining since almost last week, and the weather is so unpredictable. It’s like having rain this hour and another hour will be sunny. Today, for example, I was going to lunch with my friends in a Korean restaurant, when it rained. The rain started as a drizzle, and while we were eating, it became a downpour. Strangely though, after we ate, it’s sunny outside. Talk about global warming and unpredicted weather.
Well, that about wraps anything that came to me during this week. I know it’s a short one, and if you noticed, I do try to make post regularly. I’m thinking about having another category for songs. There’s just too much songs out there, and I’ll probably made their own category in which I can review those songs. So see you next post then..!
jovee~
